It’s interesting to learn about Honda’s plan to produce their upcoming 2023 Honda HRV. This CRV’s smaller brother is coming with improved look and performance, which is meant to improve its outcome and also sales numbers. What to expect from the new line, anyway?
The Redesigned Plan
The upcoming 2023 Honda HRV is due to updates. In fact, Honda has planned its full redesigned project – finally, after the ride debuted in 2016. Based on several spyshots, the sub-compact SUV would be coming with sportier design and somewhat more rugged exterior appearance. The initial release plan was to have it released in 2022, but the model turns out to be a carryover as the 2023 model.
Honda has released a teaser for the HRV, but it’s for the other countries’ markets (where the vehicle is called the Vezel). For those overseas markets, the vehicle undergoes complete makeover for the engine, especially with the hybrid motor addition. According to Honda, the US market will have its own personally (and specifically) designed ride, so you can’t be really sure whether the new powertrain would also be available to the market. However, it’s highly likely that the new HRV may have hybrid motor, considering the increasing trend of electrification.
Physical Design
The new HRV will definitely look tougher, thanks to the more upright greenhouse and increased ride height. The cabin will get a complete restyling element. Improved technologies would be a part of the HRV. Bigger infotainment display screen would be provided, delivering a more seamless and smoother user experience. It’s also likely that there is digital cluster gauge available, including wireless charging pad and the extra USB charging ports.
Interior cabin is one of the highlights of the HRV. Honda is somewhat able to create a bigger vibe and atmosphere inside the cabin, making it roomier to the seemingly-smaller exterior appearance. Although the exterior appearance somewhat improves a little, it won’t be able to compete against its bigger sibling, the CRV.
Engine and Performance
It’s predicted that the new HRV will be coming with four cylinder unit of 2.0 liter capacity, inspired from the Accord or Civic. It is able to generate 158 hp and 138 Nm of torque. It’s also possible that the HRV would also come with turbocharged unit with 1.5 liter capacity, generating 174 hp and 162 Nm of torque. The standard driving system would be the front wheel, and all wheel driving system would be optional. For your info, Nissan Kicks and Kia Soul don’t offer all wheel.
As it was mentioned before, expect hybrid unit to be available in this line. There is no detailed information about the hybrid powertrain, so it’s likely that it will have different launch date than the regular. But we can always expect for it.
Release Date and Price
It’s predicted that the base trim may start from around $23,000 while the higher trim would set you off to around $28,000. There is no official announcement about the release date either, but we can expect the 2023 Honda HRV to be ready from the middle of 2022.
