2024 Ford Mustang: Will There Be a Convertible?

Although there is very little further detail about the 2024 Ford Mustang, at least more information can be revealed from the vehicle and its production. The vehicle was spotted during spyshot events, still wearing heavy camo. But from the spyshots, it’s obvous that this next gen Mustang would likely be coming with wider tires and bigger brakes. Some good eyes have spotted dual calipers located on the rear, while the wheels share similarities with Mach 1.

The Upcoming Mustang Production

The 2024 model Mustang would be the seventh generation of the line. The prototype was spotted on streets of Dearborn, close to the Ford’s headquarter. At first, the prototype may look like the previous one, having dual exhaust pipes on the back. However, if you look closer, you will see the details. The wheels, for a starter, look new and they somewhat look super similar to the current Mach Mustang 1. The ‘shoes’ may be the 275 (for the rear), which is again, similar to Mach 1. There are brakes (behind the rear wheels) that look bigger and they somewhat have dual caliper setup. In case you don’t know it, Shelby GT500 is the only vehicle offering dual caliper setup on the rear. But you shouldn’t jump to any conclusion just yet before knowing more about the 2024 Mustang.

Exterior Design

The seventh gen of Mustang GT is likely coming with tweaked (performance) package, where it is quite typical and common to upgrade the brake and the wheels. It’s likely that the new Mustang would be using the V8 unit, although details are still shady.

Powertrain and Performance

As it was mentioned before, it’s likely that the 2024 Ford Mustang would be paired up with V8 unit, but it seems that it won’t be the only option offered by FordOpens in a new tab.. Considering all the future electric technologies (and how auto industry is getting prepared to welcome the future years), there is likely a possibility of Mustang hybrid. For those who want to enjoy environmentally-friendly vehicle, the hybrid Mustang should be expected, although it’s likely that it would be coming with four cylinder EcoBoost unit and possibly V8 unit with 5.0 liter capacity.

Convertible Possibility?

Rumor has it that the new 2024 Mustang not only be redesigned, but it would also come as the convertible design. Many auto enthusiasts say that they have seen differences on the prototype, when compared to the previous one. The new prototype seemed to be camouflaged heavily, especially on the roof section. If you take a closer look, the roof profile is different. It is somewhat similar to the current convertible model.

It’s also possible that Ford won’t do anything fancy or weird with the roof. It may be a soft top retractable model that is tucked inside the camo gear. The redesigned new Mustang would likely be named the S650, while the current one is the S550. Originally, the S650 would be launched as the 2023 model, but there is a change of plan, and the S650 would be available as the 2024 model.

It’s highly likely that the S650 would have updated design of the S550, coming with D2C platform. It’s opposed to the CD6 modular platform version, used by Lincoln Aviator and Ford Explorer SUVs. It means that different platforms would lead to different styling differences. It’s possible that the new Mustang come with slimmer style. It would certainly look matching with the more modern and sleeker style of the vehicle.

Final Words

It’s unclear about the details of the upcoming Mustang would be. Would it be a convertible? Would it have a hybrid unit? And such thing alike. We can only wait for the company to provide further update about the future 2024 Ford Mustang.
