Although there would be 2024 Jeep Gladiator, the vehicle may not be available before 2024 – or even within the year. With so many plans regarding their electrification products, the company certainly has tons of things on their plate. The Gladiator may be known as this tough and strong vehicle, but don’t expect it to be available before 2024.
The Electrification Power
Auto manufacturers are concerned about their upcoming productions involving the electric power. With emission concern and regulations, and the facts that people are getting more concerned about green technology, many auto manufacturers are ditching the combustion engine and switching to the electric and battery. It shouldn’t be surprising to expect future productions coming with either plug in hybrid or pure electric unit. After all, some manufacturers are pretty ambitious about their electrification plans. Some want to have full electric lines by 2025, or by 2030 to be the latest.
Jeep has their own plans when it comes to electrification. They are focusing on Wrangler and Grand Cherokee. The company is producing the so-called Grand Cherokee 4xe and also Wrangler 4xe. These are the (first) Stellantis products offering plug in hybrid units, designed for the US market. And now, the lineup should grow as Jeep is developing plans for their Gladiator 4ex truck. The Gladiator 4xe would be the only vehicle teased on the social media, but too bad it happens too prematurely.
As it was mentioned before, the 2024 Jeep Gladiator hybrid truck won’t be available before 2024. It’s still several years more! Although the company has a good reason for doing such a thing, it’s still a too early silly move. First of all, Jeep wants their Wrangler to have a refreshed work for the 2023 model. After all, the vehicle does need one. Since the Gladiator would ‘piggyback’ the similar platform as the Wrangler, the Gladiator needs to wait until Jeep has finally completed their stage with the Wrangler.
Aside from using the similar platform as the Wrangler, the Gladiator may also get a little bit of mild refreshment work, aside the 4xe unit. The company hasn’t said anything detailed about the Gladiator, or whether it would be coming with similar V8 unit of 392 hp (implemented by Wrangler). Information is slim so we need to be patient and wait further.
PHEV Hybrid Power
The so-called Gladiator 4xe would be coming with similar PHEV arrangement, which is being used by Wrangler Unlimited and also 4xe Grand Cherokee variant. This unit would combine 2 (electric) motors and also a battery pack with 400V capacity together with a four cylinder turbocharged unit. The powertrain would be paired with auto eight speed TorqueFlite transmission. This 4xe powertrain is able to generate 375 hp and 470 Nm of torque. The latter numbers are similar to the Wrangler.
However, there is a difference between the two. Regular V8 Hemi is always thirsty of gas, while the 4xe unit enables the Wrangler to cover 21 miles of coverage on pure electric only. And thanks to the 4xe unit, the electric vehicle has 49 mpg as the EPA rating. Only time will prove whether the 4xe power would be as potent as promised.
Jeep itself had denied about the electrified Gladiator, stating that they didn’t develop it. But then, some details start appearing on media, and keen eyes have made it to see the details of the possibility of electrified truck. It shouldn’t be surprising if we start seeing the prototype soon enough. If you keep a keen eye and listen carefully, then you should know that we should expect the prototypes immediately. We should provide more details and information about 2024 Jeep Gladiator once it is available.
