What Are the Plans for 2023 Lexus RX?

What to expect from the new 2023 Lexus RX? Well, one thing for sure: Lexus RX was the first ever luxury crossover launched into the auto market in 1999 and has gained a huge hit ever since. The company tries their best to keep it strong and consistent. The vehicle is the true proof that hybrid powertrain is possible (even with fuel economy) without compromising power or performance. So, what’s the upcoming plan for the 2023 model?

The Redesign Work

According to the company, the 2023 Lexus RX would be a new generation ride that also offers hybrid power. naturally, there would be changes and updates on the interior, exterior, powertrain, tech features, and others.

Exterior Area

The current one is considered a good-looking ride that still packs the original version’s aggression. For the 2023 model, which would be the fifth generation of the line, the LexusOpens in a new tab. would be less controversial. It would be more subtle in aggression while still maintaining its original charm and appeal. Many have expected for the RX to be a bit bigger, so it will be matching to the other competitors, such as Beemer X5, Mercy GLE-Class, and Acura MDX.

Interior Cabin and Its Technologies

Since there is expectation that the new RX would be bigger, the interior space would definitely more spacious too. The third row seats would have more functions and uses although it is still retained as the common third row crossover layout.

It’s also possible that there would be captain’s chair on the second row, especially for the three row models. This is quite interesting, considering that the standard RX would be two row and five seat arrangement. It means that you can expect more space for the cargo behind that second row.

Other the matter with seats and layout, expect better materials that can affect the ambiance and serenity of the cabin. The cabin would be quieter, with still options and availability of faux and real leather upholstery. Hopefully, the 2023 model will also bring back the bamboo trim, which isn’t only unique but it makes the interior stand out.

Power and Performance

According to some sources, the new RX will use different platform. It will be constructed on TNGA-K platform, which means that it shares similarities to Highlander, Camry, and RAV4. It is expected to boost road performance, affecting overall driving experience and comfort.

The RX will be specifically available with adaptive variable suspension, accompanied by F Sport type being tuned (and improved) for better handling. Furthermore, the company won’t change the electrified powertrain as it has been designed that way since the first launch, so expect the new RX to also come with electric power. Basically, the engine arrangement will be packed with stronger and punchier electric motors to accommodate the extra weight and size of the new construction. It’s highly likely that the new RX possibly will take RAV4 Prime’s components, which also include bigger battery for the EV mode.

Price and Release Date

There is no exact confirmation about the release date although some rumors say that they may be available in the very early fall of 2024. Hopefully it isn’t true. As a luxury crossover with hybrid power, it would be a shame to miss out the year. For the price, there would be different ones. The base RX will probably start from around $47, 400 while the RX450h may start from around $50,100. For trim options, the NuLuxe option will remain available. And for the Luxury variant, the interior hue with Noble Brown would be replaced by Glazed Caramel. And for the Premium variant, expect Glazed Caramel being added into the color palette. Expect more info and update about 2023 Lexus RX soon enough.
