There have been spyshots of 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee already available on the net, and it’s exciting considering its reputation as one of the most selling and popular SUV. The base Cherokee would be coming as a two row seater to accommodate 5 people, while the L variant is a three row seater that can accommodate 7 people. There’s not much update to expect except for the possibility of 4xe plug in hybrid variant that makes Jeep a worthy rival against the others.
Design, Cabin, and Appearance
The Cherokee is known as this rugged, solid, and sturdy vehicle. This SUV has quite good offroad ability because it has 8.6 inches of ground clearance, while the SRT has 8.2 inches and Trackhawk has 8.1 inches. From the three trims, it is the Trackhawk that stands out the most. The base Cherokee is already good, menacing, and tough, but it doubles two or even three times with the Trackhawk.
The inside space of Cherokee is modern and spacious. Don’t underestimate the entry level because it is comfy enough with impressive arrays of features. Expect techs like climate control, auto dual zone, rear parking sensors, rear cross traffic alert, and others from this line. The higher the trim, the more you can enjoy from the Cherokee. It means that you can expect exclusive materials, such as upholstery covered cloth, infotainment system with 7 inch display, and others. Headroom and legroom are considered average, but there is enough luggage space behind the back seat.
Power and Performance
The new 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee will likely use a V6 unit with 3.6 liter capacity (churning 295 hp) or the V8 Hemi engine with 5.7 liter capacity (producing 360 hp). Will there be a hybrid power? Highly likely there is. Jeep is offering 4xe plug in hybrid unit, introducing electrification to the SUV family. The V6 unit will be coming with the standard rear wheel driving system. In the meanwhile, the V8 and the plug in hybrid unit would be coming with all wheel driving system as the standard.
There would be different all wheel driving systems, including the (electronically) limited slip locking differential. The Trailhawk trim will be packed with solid offroad equipment. Not to mention that it has 11.3 inches clearance and adjustable air suspension which would be great for difficult condition and terrain. During testing stages, the Grand Cherokee manages to prove its smooth and composed ride. The V6 and also V8 units are proven great with tons of perks. Hopefully, the Trackhawk and SRT would be as good as the Trailhawk. Rumor has it that the Cherokee SRT will be coming with 475 hp while the Trackhawk can produce up to 707 hp.
The fuel economy for the V6 unit is 19 mpg for the city and 26 mpg for the highway. Unfortunately, the V8 unit has 14 mpg for the city and 22 mpg for the highway, which is quite too bad. The hybrid unit is supposedly better, but there hasn’t been any information about it. The plug in hybrid unit comes paired with 134 hp of electric motor and 14.0 kWh battery.
Release Date and Price
The sales may start in 2022, with the starting price around $34,000. The details are still unclear. The Cherokee is the popular SUV, either as two row vehicle or the three row L variant. With impressive combo of interior quality, good offroad abilities, and various engines, it’s only logical if the SUV is set to compete against Audi Q5, Land Rover Discovery, Toyota 4Runner, Ford Edge, and Nissan Murano. We should wait for further official release about this 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
