With the upcoming update plan for Ford F-250 has been rolling, it should be interesting to learn what is going to happen to 2023 Ford Super Duty. Everyone knows that the Super Duty is one tough ride. Designed to handle all the hard work (thus, the Super Duty name), the truck is definitely not the light-duty kind. It is designed to tow, haul, plow, and tackle offroad barriers without a sweat. So, what does Ford have in store for this lineup?
The New Update
Many have expected for the 2023 Ford Super Duty to get updates although they don’t want anything radical or drastic. Simple changes would be okay. After all, the Super Duty is already good looking in its original condition. Ford plans on developing the HSS/aluminum chassis as a part of the update. Aside from the new look on the outside, expect some refreshment on the inside too. The powertrain may be similar although some trims may have punchier and more powerful outcome. There is also a possibility of a tad improvements for the payload and also towing ability.
Exterior Redesign Planning
As it was mentioned before, the upcoming 2023 model would be completely redesigned, but hopefully, not to the extent that it would be so radical and would be extremely changing the original look and design. Many have hoped that the changes would follow the new F-250, meaning that it undergoes only the evolutionary changes. Updated chassis is said to be on the way. It will still use the familiar chassis (combining HSS and aluminum) while expecting new suspension setup. It will improve the overall experience, including capability and also ride quality. Expect all new styles too because inspirations would be taken from F-250. But don’t be surprised if the new truck would look more aggressive with bulkier stance.
Interior Changes
You shouldn’t wonder or surprise if the design for the cabin would be similar to the F-250. After all, the inspiration is taken from there! With better build quality and nicer material, it’s not hard to see why Super Duty won’t be constructed or styled in the same way. The aesthetic is also better (and nicer), making the Super Duty super perfect to compete against RAM HD model.
Aside better and more modern interior design, there are new techs as a part of the update too. For a starter, there would be a massive touchscreen with vertically-oriented layout along with new (and certainly better) infotainment system.
Powertrain and Performance
Considering that the current Super Duty has already had promising (and more than satisfying) powertrain arrangement, many auto enthusiasts hope that it will remain the same. If there is going to be a change, at least it should be better and punchier.
The base line would be coming with V8 unit with 6.2 liter capacity that is producing 380 hp and 430 Nm of torque. There is also optional V8 Godzilla unit is optional (and it has been ready since last year), so the power output may likely be the same. It is able to churn 430 hp and 475 Nm of torque.
What’s different is the fact that Ford has finally provided turbodiesel unit with 6.6 liter capacity that is able to produce 475 hp and 1.050 Nm of torque. For this arrangement, there is a little bit increase in the maximum torque, which also affects the towing ratings. The current one is able to tackle 24.000 pounds (for the conventional system) and it can stretch out to maximum 37.000 pounds (with the gooseneck and fifth wheel). So, expect improvements with the new arrangement, for sure.
Release Date and Price
There is no official or detailed information about the launch date or the tag price. However, everyone expects the truck to be ready around 2022; in the second half period. The current Super Duty has a starting price of $37,000 for the base, and it’s likely that the price won’t be too far from the number. The upcoming 2023 model is designed to be a worthy competitor for RAM pickup and Chevrolet Silverado, so it’s logical if many auto enthusiasts have high hopes on this 2023 Ford Super Duty.
